came to us from the Cape May County Animal Shelter. He should be chosen as Dog of the Year because in the past year and a half he has gone from being a scared, abondoned and a possibly abused dog, recoiling from all human interaction, to a fun loving companion seeking to be close to all he encounters, due in part to the Ocean City Dog Park. Because BLAISE loves being around other dogs, he saw that the dog parents and families were not so bad after all, so he slowly began to approach people he regularly saw at the park. Now he goes up to every one without hesitation, including people he has never meet before. The Ocean City Dog Park is one of Blaise's most favorite places to be and on the drive to the park he starts announcing his love for the park, barking with excitement when we are still miles away. The park has taught BLAISE that people mean him no harm and only want the best for him.

All dogs deserve a second chance
HELLO
My name is C-MAX and I should be chosen as "Dog of the Year" because I can show people that even "Designer Dogs" can be found in shelters. I'm a Bichon/Poodle and I was left in a shelter. My new family fell in love with me instantly and I am elated and grateful for my new home - in fact, when I meet new friends, they always comment on how HAPPY a dog I am - a happy dog with a funny name. How did I get this funny name, you ask? Well that is because my first family named me MAX, but my forever family members all have "C" names. I don't notice the difference, all I know is that it is an uncommon name for an uncommonly HAPPY DOG

should be chosen as "Dog of the Year" because he is the friendliest dog anyone will every meet! Not only our family, neighbors, but anyone he meets enjoys his warm welcoming company when they see him playing ball or walking down the street! Besides being friendly, our fluffy friend is also a bolt of energy! He ALWAYS has a ball in his mouth, ready to play fetch with the next person he meets! Plus, CODY's GREAT personality, completes our family ! No matter what bed he decides to curl up on, or the time he wants to wake up the house in the morning, we always have CODY to cheer us up! Every time we pull up to the house, we know we will see his fluffy face, his wagging tail and his tennis ball in his mouth waiting for us in the window. As you can see, CODY's locality and companionship is what would make him a FANTASTIC DOG OF THE YEAR

Our puppy mill rescue DORI should be chosen as "Dog of the Year" for not only what she has been through, but also for all the love and joy she has brought to us. Last year on the third of July, after a day on the beach, we came back to our house in the Gardens and while everyone was getting cleaned up, I was surfing pet finder and found the dog ever - DORI. She had the unfortunate situation of being born into a puppy mill and her first 5 years were spent having puppies and being the best mom she could in the the situation she had. Thankfully, the puppy mill was raided, and DORI was surrendered to the Last Chance Ranch rescue in Quakertown, PA.
After showing DORI to my wife, we both fell in love, filled out and submitted the application. After coming home from the shore, we received a call from the rescue ranch, and that night we met the extremely timit DORI for the first time, fell in love with her and brought her home with us that night. It took over an hour to have her walk into our house because she was so scared. Since then, we have been continually working with her. She is currently in advanced training classes, which are really helping her self-esteem. DORI loves long walks in the park, both at home and at the shore and spending time with her family. We cannot wait to see how she continues to grow and learn that she will be a loved dog for the rest of her life

our rescue Papapoo, should be chosen as "Dog of the Year" for so many reasons. You can't help but fall in love with her as soon as you see her enormous ears, her John L. Lewis eyebrows, her freckle tummy and her sweet face to match her sweet disposition. Her ears do not always stick straight out as she puts them up, down or both straight up and then folded over those eyebrows. With her Poodle ears mixed with the oversized Papillon ears, what a cute combination.
HOLLY loves going for long walks and enjoys the dog park camaraderie, but her favorite pastime is to run on the beach and chase the birds accompanied by her "cousins" - two rescue dogs belonging to other family members. When not outside, HOLLY sits gazing out the window just waiting for the next time she can run and play....and show off those ears.
We adopted this adorable dog from the Atlantic County Canines in December 2008, thus her name but the best name of all is calling her OURS.

Hi, My name is JOEY. My favorite thing to do on Ocean City is to go to the Dog Park. I love to meet other dogs, but I especially like meeting people. I give kisses to everyone I meet and will even wash their face (if they let me). My front porch is another one of my favorite spots. From there I can watch people, dogs and even an occasional rabbit. I would love to be named Dog of the Year in 2013

oldest memory is visiting their new home in Ocean City. Three years ago when they entered our lives, we not only welcomed theminto our hearts and homes, but they were also welcomed to Ocean City. They came to us from Ohio and right away we came back to Ocean City to show them around. These brothers love meeting new friends all over town and visiting the Dog Park. They always have a new adventure ahead. Please vote for "Our Boys" and show everyone that there's always a party when these Parti Poodles are here.

My dog PAUL NEWMAN should be chosen as the "Dog of the Year" because HE IS A LOT LIKE OCEAN CITY. He makes people happy! PAUL NEWMAN never met a person he didn't like. He is even a Certified Therapy Dog. He draws a crowd, and knows almost as many tricks as flavors of Salt Water Taffy. He is even the star of a family friendly film called "DEAR DOG I LOVE YOU". He "SHORE" is beautiful with OCEAN blue eyes and an all white coat with ust some SAND colored spots on his ears. PAUL NEWMAN loves to have FUN. For him it is always Friday Night on the Boardwalk. I even promised him a cup of Kohr's if he wins. So, please make a hound happy and choose him as the "Dog of the Year"

Our dog PEANUT should be "Dog of the Year" because of all the loving things she does for other people. PEANUT came to us shortly after we lost our 15 year old companion to old age. We had discussed not getting another dog but our youngest daughter was being bullied at school for being over weight and truly had not one friend. I went into a small pet store one day and there was "PEANUT".. I wasn't ready to take her home, but the store owner said on my departure "remember the dog picks the owner". I thought about her all night and went back first thing the next day and brought her home. She was the friend my youngest needed, the puppy my oldest missed having and she brought a smile to both of our faces every time we looked at her adorable face.
She is a "Therapy Dog", and has received many certificates. "PEANUT" is special in so many ways to our family and everyone she meets. We want to nominate her for "Dog of the Year" to honor all the wonderful things she does and to show her how much we love her!!!

Sandy
When we adopted SANDY from the shelter in Cape May Courthouse last year, we could tell she was a sweet dog, but we had no idea how loving and friendly she actually was. SANDY has a very outgoing personality and loves to play. She has more personality than any dog we ever met and she is always doing things to make people smile. SANDY has appointed herself as the official greeter at the Dog Park, and is usually the first dog at the gate when others are entering. While at the Dog Park, SANDY is always eager to make friends and play. SANDY would be a GREAT candidate for "Dog of the Year", not only for her beauty, but for her loving personality. Thank you for considering SANDY as a candidate for "Dog of the Year". We are confident that, if chosen, she would represent the park proudly.
